Puppy Food

We highly recommend the Gilbert pet store, Barking Dogs, to find quaity dog food. The people there are very knowledgeable and can answer any questions you might have about the right dog food for your puppy!

Puppy Pad Tray

We use puppy pad trays similar to this for potty training at San Tan Doodles. We recommend picking up something similiar to keep in the puppy’s area, as they will already be familiar with this process.

Play Pen

There are many different types of play pens, the link provided is just one example. It can be helpful for your puppy to start in a smaller space in your home (like a play pen) and gradually expand into other spaces. This also helps other dogs in the home get used to your puppy.

Bully Sticks

We love using these bully sticks during crate training — they’re a healthy, high-value treat that keeps puppies happily occupied while they settle into their crate. They’re also a perfect distraction when you need a moment of calm during those wild bursts of puppy energy!

Pet Dryer

Powerful pet dryer with adjustable speed, 3 nozzles, and comb for versatile grooming.

Slicker Brush

After your puppy loses his initial puppy coat (between four to eight months) their coat will need to be groomed with a slicker-brush. Otherwise their coat will mat and it can be painful for them! We use this slicker brush because it has rubber ends and is more gentle on the dog’s skin.

Detailer Comb

Kong Toy

The KONG Puppy Toy is made from soft, natural rubber designed specifically for teething puppies. It’s perfect for chewing, fetching, and can be stuffed with treats to keep your pup engaged and soothed during crate time or solo play. Ideal for medium-sized puppies, it's a great tool for both training and comfort.

Water/Food Bowls

There are many different types and styles of dog bowls—free to use any you'd like! Some puppies may even benefit from a slow feeder.  This is a generic option that has great reviews and rubber bottom!

Kennel

If you plan on continuing to crate your dog into it’s adulthood, we suggest getting a crate with a divider. If the crate starts off too big for the puppy, they are more likely to pee and poop in it. If it is the appropriate size they naturally won’t potty in their sleeping area. It also might help to hang a towel or blanket over the kennel at first as it simulates a “den” feeling.

Pee Pads

These will be used with your puppy pad tray (see above). If you are using a litter box with pellets to help train your puppy, we suggest
putting these under the litter box at first. Your puppy might not have the best aim and will sometimes miss the box for the first little while.

Pet Trimmer

This pet trimmer kit precisely and effectively trims pet hair with a low-noise design and rechargeable battery.

Harness

We don’t know what we would do without this harness! It is the only harness we have ever found that actually minimizes a dog’s leash pulling.

Comb

We also suggest using this comb after the slicker to get that “poofy” look.

Dog Treats

Nutri Bites Freeze-Dried Beef Liver Treats are a high-protein, single-ingredient option perfect for both dogs and cats. Made from 100% beef liver, they’re all-natural, nutrient-rich, and ideal for training or as a healthy food topper. These treats are lightweight, easy to break apart, and loved by pets for their flavor and texture.
